We were asked to develop a video on demand (VOD) service for them across web and native apps, that would offer a unique view on India.
I focused in capturing stakeholders' visions during the ideation workshop and presenting refined directions for each phase of the product strategy. I defined the sitemap and delivered detailed wireframes, I actively engaged in HTML/CSS and jQuery prototyping to test micro-interactions and workflows. My contributions were to guide the design project through its various stages.
The Ideation workshop was instrumental in comprehending and capturing stakeholders' vision for the product, with a primary goal of creating a singular and cohesive user experience. The emphasis was on content skimming, driving the user experience towards relevant feeds that cater to a diverse audience. Whether it's a newcomer seeking popular content or a regular user in search of something fresh, the design aimed to deliver a seamless and tailored experience for all types of users. This user-centric approach formed the cornerstone of our strategy to enhance engagement and satisfaction across the board.
Maintaining the product's vitality involves a dual focus: infusing freshness through new content while leveraging older content to align with current editorial themes. Labels and tags, rather than having dedicated listing pages, function as dynamic filters, enhancing content discoverability. The design prioritizes a seamless transition between pieces of content, ensuring a low level of commitment for users jumping directly from one piece to the next. This approach aims to strike a balance, offering a constantly refreshed user experience while providing flexibility and ease of exploration.
The essence of the approach lies in storytelling — a connection with audiences through a contemporary lens and an emphasis on engaging them emotionally. The strategy revolves around crafting a multi-media immersive experience for every new story, recognizing the importance of tailoring content based on varied consumer preferences. This commitment to differentiation ensures that each piece resonates uniquely, allowing the product to captivate its audience on a profound and personalized level. By adapting to diverse modes of consumption, the aim is to provide a dynamic and compelling narrative experience that resonates with the audience.
In the Sitemap & Wireframing phase, we shift from viewing pages to crafting a narrative path, prioritizing the seamless flow of the story. This approach ensures a user experience where the story takes center stage at every step, creating an engaging and intuitive journey for our audience.
Utilizing HTML/CSS and jQuery, I created prototypes for the essential product experiences. These prototypes serve to test micro-interactions and workflows, ensuring their effectiveness before the site progresses into the production phase. This proactive approach allows us to refine and optimize the user experience, anticipating and addressing potential issues early in the development process.
